Light the Way School and Community Parade

As part of the Macleay River Festival, Council would like to engage families, schools and children from the Macleay in lantern making and a lantern parade to be held Saturday 7 September 2013 from 4pm to 7pm at Riverside Park, along with other family activities. This event seeks to be part of the exciting month of programs that will draw out the creative side of our community and celebrate everything that is great about living in the Macleay. Come along, bring a picnic rug, partake in the Dunghutti Sport and Recreation activities and enjoy the entertainment!

Friends of Zainab Scholarship

The Public Education Foundation has just has opened a new round of scholarships for 2014.

Twelve scholarships categories are now open for applications, including the Friends of Zainab Scholarship which provides assistance for senior high school students who are refugees or asylum seekers through to the Mamma Lena and Dino Gustin Foundation Scholarship which provides the successful applicants with a trip to Italy to attend language lessons in Rome.

Students who are interested in applying for a scholarship should download an information pack from the Public Education Foundation website.

Applications must be received by the Public Education Foundation by Friday 20 September 2013.

Macleay Community Connect Day

Kempsey Macleay Community Services and the Kempsey community are working together to host the day on 18 October 2013 for those in the Macleay community who are struggling at Kempsey Race Course. This is an opportunity for people in difficulty to access services that are often out of reach or not known to them. Giving people in need access to haircuts, clothing and toiletries and services such as immunizations, podiatrists, Centrelink, State Debt, TAFE, Community Services, Employment Services and baby health.

For this event the public is being encouraged to donate a new pair of socks, jox or undies for people in need. For further information contact Jenny Gibson on 6586 6651.

Black Arts Market, Corroboree Festival, Sydney

Arts NSW is seeking interested from artists and arts organisations that would have good quality, carry away, products for the Black Arts Market to be held at Pier 2/3 (Sydney) as part of the Corroboree Festival 16 & 17 November this year.

Invited stallholders will be able to display and sell their products, ranging from artworks, homewares and design, to bush foods, body products, and medicines, to music and literature.
