How does this weed affect you?
Giant rats tail grass is a weed in pastures and bushland areas, particularly on poorer soils. It invades pastures, replacing more productive grasses and making it difficult for cattle to graze. Giant rats tail's growth often reduces feed intake and animal production in cattle because of this.
Giant rats tail invades grasslands, open woodlands and wetlands and often outcompetes native plants. Its growth can increase fire intensity in areas, which makes wildfires harder to contain.
