Community Meeting - Willawarrin Water Treatment Plant
Residents of Willawarrin are invited to a community meeting on Thursday 16 March at Willawarrin Hall about the construction of the new Water Treatment Plant.
The new water treatment plant is being built to provide residents with safe, clean and reliable drinking water.
The purpose of the meeting is to provide information about the water treatment plant and to answer any questions you may have.
The plant will be located on the southern end of the Willawarrin Sporting Fields. Council and government regulators have confirmed that a water treatment plant in this spot is the best approach and location to improve the quality of tap water in Willawarrin.
We are especially keen to speak to all those who use the sports fields at the meeting so that we can work together to reduce any negative impacts and deliver an improved space.
Council has completed the design and technical specifications for the project and we expect to award the tender for the detailed design and construction in 2023, with the project completed next year.
You are an important partner in this project. Council staff have met with the community twice before about this project, in 2018 and 2020, and now as the construction phase approaches we want to talk again. We are committed to ensuring this project proceeds in a transparent manner.
The total budget for the project is $4 million. Council will contribute the majority of the funds, with some grant support from the NSW Government's Safe and Secure Water Program.
We encourage you to attend this community meeting to learn more about the project and to have your questions answered.
