Have your say on our laneways - Pop up shop
Be a part of Kempsey Laneways Revitalisation Project - come along to our Pop Up Demonstration Day on Thursday 4 August and find out more about this exciting project.
Thanks to funding from the NSW Government's Street as Shared Spaces Program, Kempsey Shire Council will be re-imagining and revitalising two key laneways in Kempsey’s CBD - Elringtons Lane and Savages Lane. These two public spaces will be receiving new safety and decorative treatments through revamped pavement surfaces, water mains renewal, public art, lighting and upgraded CCTV.
We want to hear from you!
Council has engaged arts consultants Creative Community Projects who will be facilitating the pop up with Council. Come along, grab some chalk, and a cupcake on us, and share some of your ideas on how we can transform our laneways and what makes Kempsey great!
‘From the Mountains to the Sea’
The artistic theme for the project draws from existing community engagement including Council’s Strategic Plan and Local Strategic Planning statements.
“From the Mountains to Sea” focuses on the rich diversity of experiences and histories of the Macleay, united by a common thread - the Macleay River which provides the nutrients, habitat, recreation opportunities and the historical and cultural context for the shire.
At the heart of the valley is the main town of Kempsey itself which will be strongly celebrated in the work.
