Our water team is flushing our bores at Kinchela – water will be discharged along Hat Head Road until early next week.
Travelling stock reserves provide pasture reserves for travelling or grazing stock. These reserves can be a source of emergency grazing in a drought, bushfire or flood.
The shire has 18 refuges belonging to Local Land Services, Roads and Maritime Services, Kempsey Shire Council and the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment. The Emergency Stock Refuges map(PDF, 2MB) shows these locations.
Council is working to increase understanding of the importance and potential of these reserves and promote their shared and sustainable use in emergencies.
