Kempsey Varroa Mite Eradication Emergency Zone extended

Additional cases of varroa mite have been detected in the Kempsey Shire by the NSW Department of Primary Industries (NSW DPI), extending the existing Kempsey Eradication Emergency Zone.

NSW DPI has set up staging in Kempsey with surveillance teams deployed. Tracing has also commenced to provide further information to the Consultative Committee on Emergency Plant Pests when available.

NSW DPI has put an immediate ban on all hive movements within 25km of the new Kempsey RED and PURPLE zones. Police patrols are in place to assist with any non-compliant activities.
