Community Housing Ltd, Kempsey Neighbourhood Centre and Kinchela Boys Home Aboriginal Corporation collaborated to bring people together and provide positive experiences for community through their Deadly Totem Poles project.

The innovative project took place on Tuesday 12 April during Youth Week with local artist Tyron leading community in painting and turning bollards into deadly totem poles. The Deadly Totem Poles project features imagery significant to local Aboriginal culture and is located in Steele Park, West Kempsey.

Council contributed $2,490 to the project as part of Council's 2021-22 Community Grants Program under the Community Safety funding stream.
