Three days of fun at Kempsey's Science and Engineering Challenge
Published on 24 May 2021
On the 18th, 19th and 20th May, students from schools across the Macleay tested their STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) skills at the annual Science and Engineering Challenge held at Kempsey High School.
The event is designed by the University of Newcastle in partnership with communities, Rotary clubs, universities and sponsors and tours across Australia to deliver aspects of science and engineering which they would not usually see in their school environment.
The first two days saw high school students participate in the Challenge Day, competing against other schools.
Students complete a variety of applied and engaging activities such as creating an earthquake proof tower or building a hovercraft, earning points for how well they complete each activity.
The third day involved the Discovery Day where Year 5 and 6 students a hands-on introduction to the fun of science and engineering.
Congratulations to all involved in hosting another successful Science and Engineering Challenge.
