Sandbag collection point at Smithtown
Published on 01 March 2022
UPDATE 1:00pm Tuesday 1 March.
The State Emergency Service (SES) will be bringing more sand and bags to the same location at the boat ramp. If you require sandbags, please bring your own shovel where possible to help fill the bags. The SES can dispatch sandbags at request. You can contact the SES on 132 500
Localised rainfall is pooling in some low-lying areas in the lower Macleay, which may impact properties, particularly in Smithtown and Gladstone areas.
There will be sandbags available for collection next to the Smithtown boat ramp from mid-morning today.
Residents are asked to closely monitor water levels near their properties and to act accordingly.
The pooling water is from localised rain and is not a result of flooding from the river.
Stay safe and help those around you.
