Removal of dwindling Norfolk Island Pine from Horseshoe Bay Reserve
Published on 07 March 2022
A declining Norfolk Island Pine will be removed from Horseshoe Bay Reserve next week as it presents a safety risk.
Kempsey Shire Council will remove a decaying Norfolk Island Pine from Horseshoe Bay Reserve on Monday 14 March using specialist equipment.
Council has carried out ongoing maintenance to the pine, and sadly it has continued to deteriorate and now presents a risk to public safety. As a result, the tough decision to remove the pine has been made.
During the removal, there will be no access to Horseshoe Bay headland between 6am - 3pm as contractors will be using a crane.
Council is advising businesses nearby who may be impacted by these works.
The tree will be replaced with another Norfolk Island Pine in a suitable location.
