Getting fit just got a whole lot easier with the addition of new smart lighting around the Verge Street Oval running track.

These new lights are a cheaper, power saving alterative that allows the public to make the most of the running track while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The solar powered lights come equipped with motion sensors that allow them to brighten the path when walkers or joggers come close and automatically dim to 30 per cent of their brightness when no one is nearby. Since their installation the lights have already been put to the test during a cricket match last month, and will also be used to brighten up many more night games to come!

You can view the major projects that are currently being worked on, as well as one that have already been completed at the Verge and Eden Street sporting complex here.
