Nature's calling...for our help
Published on 07 September 2021
Did you know 238 animal and plant species in the Macleay are threatened with extinction?
This poses a risk to the region's rich biodiversity as the more species we have, the healthier our ecosystem and lives are.
Throughout September is National Biodiversity Month and NSW Government's Saving our Species program are offering a free webinar series, showcasing ways to conserve the native animals, plants and ecosystems of South East NSW. To view the online event catalogue, head to NSW Department of Planning Industry and Environment
With National Threatened Species Day taking place on the 7 September, it's difficult for us to get involved in this in the lockdown. Luckily, NSW Government has created Conservation from your couch, explaining ways to help animals from home.
What else is happening this National Biodiversity Month?
Council is seeking feedback on our draft Biodiversity Strategy for the shire, which is on public exhibition until Monday 13th September. Have your say by visiting Kempsey Shire Biodiversity Strategy
