A message from the Mayor: Help South West Rocks take the crown
Published on 26 April 2022
We’ve all known for a long time about the beauty and splendour of South West Rocks but it was wonderful to see the community bustling with visitors and locals over the Easter break.
With Horseshoe Bay having recently been named the second best beach in Australia the natural attractions are obvious but there is also a great village and community for tourists to discover as well.
So it’s no surprise to me that the NSW Tourism Industry Council last week announced South West Rocks as one of the finalists in the Top Tourism Town awards.
The best part is we can all help the Rocks to secure the title. We can all vote on our favourite out of the eight finalists and I would urge you all to go online and give your clicks to the Rocks.
To vote head to ksc.pub/voteforswr and don’t forget to tell your friends and family to do the same.
The Rocks has been nominated for its rich cultural experiences, glorious coastline, scenic drives, stunning national parks, world renowned dive sites, numerous fishing spots and iconic landmarks but there are new attractions appearing as well.
The Community Art Gallery opened recently in the Maritime Precinct Hub, occupying the heritage-listed Pilot’s Residence.
There are currently three rooms to explore which are named after the Pilots who guided vessels to safe harbour and lived in the house in the days of the sailing ships.
Come by to browse the latest exhibition from local artists and you just may find a hidden treasure. The gallery is also interested in talking to any artists on the Mid North Coast.
We are also looking forward to the upcoming completion of the High-Performance Centre which will provide world class sporting facilities to the area.
South West Rocks is one of the jewels in our crown. Let’s make sure it also wins the crown as a Top Tourism Town.
