From the Mayor's Desk: It’s time for new trainees
Published on 30 August 2021
Our community is made up of wonderful people, and the same can be said of the team at Council. Across the wide variety of departments, the thing that stands out is how good our people are.
And now it is time to call for a new generation to join them.
Council is currently advertising for traineeships in six different teams, with more to open up in the months to come. I genuinely believe these traineeships are such an incredible opportunity in the way that they offer school leavers the full package - paid work, real world experience, an incredibly supportive team and all while gaining a nationally recognised qualification.
The campaign to promote our traineeships this year is based on “launching a career with Council” and there is so much truth to that concept. I love that there are staff at Council who have been there for decades after starting as trainees.
When you’re starting out it can be hard to know how to build a career, and which one to choose, however taking that first leap into an organisation which not only values creating local jobs but also a strong workplace culture and career development is a great start.
If you or someone you know is even considering a career in finance, customer service, administration, automotive, waste services or project management then check out the trainee roles listed at ksc.pub/careers
Let’s get vaccinated
It is great to see our GP and pharmacy networks receiving stocks of COVID-19 vaccines across the shire. Plus a walk-up vaccination clinic.
I have had both shots, and by being fully vaccinated, I feel that I am doing my part to not only protect myself and my family but also the wider community. The more of us who take that step, the sooner we can get our freedoms and life back normal. I encourage you to book in for your vaccination as soon as you can.
