A message from the Mayor: Hand up for some dollars
Published on 21 March 2023
Council would like to support our community and there are many great groups that could use some financial help. Such monetary help will have their volunteering work bringing a better outcome for our Shire.
Studies have shown we are spending more time at home. Council supports any community group that enables more people to be out and about to take part in a whole range of activities.
Council Grant Applications are now open. I encourage community groups across the Kempsey Shire to apply. There are four categories of funding.
Mayoral Community Fund
This fund is for those community groups that have a plan to improve or start a project that fits the Council’s Community Strategic Plan. Projects can be funded to a maximum of $3000.
Sporting Grants
Any sporting organisation that would like to buy some extra equipment, improve the clubhouse etc, should make an application. Up to $2000 is available for a project.
Get Ready Grants
If your organisation has a project to prepare for a possible disaster to upgrade a community asset or buy equipment, such as generator or satellite telephone, then you should apply for this grant. A maximum of $3000 is available for each application.
Quick Grants
These $250 grants are to help any organisation with any celebratory events in the community. Events, such as NAIDOC, would have the funding for catering of drinks or food to round out the occasion.
I recommend community groups check out the Council's website to find out what category can help your project. Grants need to be applied for as soon as possible, as the closing date is the 27 March. Head to ksc.pub/grants23
Willawarrin Water Treatment Plant
Last week, along with Councillors Ring, Bain and Fergusson, I attended the Council staff presentation of the plan to install a state-of-art water treatment plant next to the Willawarrin Sporting Fields. The expected completion date is the end of 2024. The delivery of a high-quality water supply for our communities is a priority of Council for all areas of the Shire’s towns and villages. Thank you,
Mayor Leo Hauville.
