A light mist of rain last Saturday didn’t stop hundreds of people visiting the live music and art demonstrations to celebrate the new murals along Elringtons Lane.

People wandered through taking in all the beauty and detail of the newly completed artworks. They were treated to live music by local Kathryn Jones and could watch artist Sion Thomas create a new addition - painting a bower bird and water dragon. Watch this space, as Shon continues to add some finishing touches to her creation.

Artist Buster Marr, who worked with Daniel Hend on the amazing landscape mural, was on hand to explain the special stories behind some of the detail (including hidden details) within the masterpiece.

Feedback about the new look laneway was very positive.

“So beautiful, it gives me goosebumps”, “It’s like magic”, “I’ve been here my whole life and am so happy to see what’s happened down here, can’t wait to bring my family and friends down, keep up the great work everyone”.

Aisha Spokes, Community Project Officer said the vibe was fantastic.

'It was amazing to see the smiles and excitement in all those faces as they wandered through Elringtons Lane.

The next project will be the revitalisation of Savages Lane in Kempsey. Several other local artists came down for a look on Saturday and to discuss the opportunity to get involved in this next stage.' Mrs Spokes said.

Expressions of Interest (EOI) are now open for the revitalisation of Savages Lane as part of the Streets as Shared Spaces project.
