Join the conversation about our shire's growth and character

Predictions show that the Kempsey Shire's population will experience sustained growth over the next twenty years and we are planning now for this increase.
Kempsey Shire Council is developing a Local Growth Management Strategy which outlines how we will plan for this predicted growth. In doing this, we need to ensure there is enough suitable land for residential and employment growth, while still protecting our cherished and natural assets.
The Local Growth Management Strategy will inform further changes to the Kempsey Local Environmental Plan which guides land zoning and use in the shire.
We are now asking for feedback on the following draft background documents:
- Employment Lands Audit
- Scenic Protection Layer Review
- Local Character Statement Review
Let us know what you think of the findings and recommendations in these reports and how we can best manage development in the area.

You can have your say on the documents before Friday 22 July 2022.
We recently asked for feedback on the draft Local Housing Strategy and these documents compliment each other to create the Local Growth Management Strategy which informs the Kempsey Local Environmental Plan.
The document is another example of Council's commitment to a community vision that "our people are given the opportunities and infrastructure to build a safe, welcoming and sustainable community."
