Community members who live on larger land areas or farms are encouraged to take part in the Koala Feed Tree Giveaway 2023.

If you would like to support our endangered koala by planting feed trees on your property, orders are now being taken and will close on May 17, 2023.

Council's Environmental Planning Officer, Megan Jones wants to highlight that these trees are not suitable for the average suburban block.

“These are big trees that can grow up to 40 metres making them more suitable for larger land areas or farms. There are four species available, and all are suitable feed trees for koalas in our region,” Ms Jones said.

“Collection of the trees will be available on one day only and while orders can be received until 17 May we’d appreciate you submitting your order as soon as possible.”

The four species of trees available are:

  • Eucalyptus microcorys (Tallowwood)
  • Eucalyptus propinqua (Grey Gum)
  • Eucalyptus robusta (Swampy Mahogany)
  • Eucalyptus tereticornis (Forest Red Gum)

Free koala feed trees will be available to collect on one day only from Macleay Landcare between 1pm - 5pm, 30 May 2023.

Rainforest trees will also be available to purchase on the day from local Landcare nurseries.

Can you support our koalas? Find out more or get your order in by 17 May 2023 here
