Have your say on the draft Flood Policy
Published on 11 April 2025
Flooding is a familiar issue for many residents across Kempsey Shire. It presents ongoing challenges for sustainable development, housing and climate resilience.
To better manage these risks, Council has developed a draft Flood Policy, which is now on public exhibition following the March Council Meeting. Community members and stakeholders are invited to review the draft and provide feedback to help shape the final version.
The policy sets out a consistent approach to development on flood-affected land, aligning with state and national planning guidelines. It applies to all areas within the Kempsey Shire that are subject to flooding.
The aim is to ensure new development is appropriately planned and flood risk is managed effectively, supporting a safer and more resilient community.
