The access between East Kempsey and West Kempsey has been opened to the public this morning.
On the basis of overnight rainfall, river gauge levels and the current Bureau of Meteorology warning level it has been determined that there is no imminent threat of floodwater inundating the CBD on Tuesday morning. The potential for further river rises at Kempsey remains however through Tuesday.
While the route is now open, it is strongly recommended that travel be limited to essential trips only during the flood event.
On Monday morning, as a result of the immediate threat of floodwater inundating of the Kempsey CBD, the access ways between East Kempsey and West Kempsey was closed and restricted to emergency services, essential workers and those returning home.
Please note that an Evacuation Order remains in place in the Kempsey CBD, which has been in place since Friday evening.
All residents and visitors are strongly advised to keep abreast of future Council Flood Updates as well as Bureau of Meteorology and SES warnings.
