Council to upgrade Crescent Head’s Baker Drive playground
Published on 02 December 2021
Local and visiting families to Crescent Head can soon look forward to a new and improved Baker Drive playground.
Kempsey Shire Council is upgrading the ageing playground equipment at the Baker Drive playground in Crescent Head.
Kempsey Shire Council Coordinator of Civic Services, Katy Rogan, said the current play equipment is reaching the end of its lifespan, deteriorating faster than expected.
“Council has been inspecting the condition of the playground frequently, noting its declining state as each week passes. To ensure that playground users are always kept safe, Council may need to close it sooner than the replacement will take place.”
“We acknowledge this will be an inconvenience to families and Council will have the new play equipment installed as soon as possible.”
The new equipment will be safe, creative and modern allowing children to learn through play while encouraging social and problem-solving skills.
“Baker Drive’s new playground will have animal-themed spring rockers, a climbing cube, a swing set and much more to keep children happy and healthy,” said Ms Rogan.
“As playgrounds are one of Council’s most popular assets, ensuring they meet Australian standards is paramount for community safety and something we take very seriously.”
Due to COVID-19 delays, the new playground equipment is expected to be installed in February 2022.
