Kempsey Shire Council is asking the community to continue to act responsibly in the face of the current Coronavirus outbreak, confident that the organisation is actively monitoring and responding to Public Health Order regulations

Council has received a number of enquiries from understandably concerned residents as announcements of snap lockdowns have been made by the New South Wales Government for areas including the Hunter region, Byron Bay region, Tamworth and Armidale.

While the situation around the state is evolving, at the time of writing the rules in the Kempsey Shire have not changed.

Council continues to ask all local residents and visitors to our shire to please follow health advice, particularly around checking in and mask wearing.

Everyone in NSW is living under some form of restriction brought about by public health orders. The sacrifices we make now can help us avoid more intense restrictions, whether that is wearing masks indoors, having to check-in using the QR code to workplaces, shops and other locations, or a limit on visitor numbers in your home.

Please be assured that Council staff, operators and our contractors are all operating in accordance with NSW Public Health Orders. and we are working closely with all levels of government to ensure the most up to date information is available.

The recent lockdown for the Hunter region and Armidale is a factor that our Holiday Park management teams in particular are aware of and they are taking all necessary action with regards to anyone attempting to travel to our shire from these areas. Processes are in place to ensure that the Macleay Valley Coast Holiday Parks are operated in accordance with the NSW Public Health Orders.

Please be assured that Council staff, managing agents and our contractors are all operating in accordance with NSW Public Health Orders.

Our Holiday Park management teams are constantly reviewing and updating procedures related to the Public Health Order and working tirelessly to take all necessary action with regards to anyone attempting to travel to our shire from affected areas.

Kempsey Shire Council Mayor Liz Campbell has this week reminded the community of their responsibilities in wearing masks and supporting each other.

Council’s management are working directly with staff on managing movements through Council facilities, ensuring staff are supported in workplace flexibility and encouraged to consider vaccination. The information and advice NSW Health continues inform Council’s decision making on this critical issue. The General Manager is regularly briefed and updated by the Mid North Coast Local Health District and the Local Emergency Management Officers and will be advised immediately if there are any changes to the status of Coronavirus in the Kempsey Shire.
