Council establishes temporary facility to aid clean-up of shire
Published on 26 March 2021
Overview
To facilitate the emergency clean-up of flood generated waste, Council has established a temporary flood waste facility for the community.
This location will strictly serve as a way to collect and process flood waste. Waste will not be permanently disposed of at this site and everything that is dropped off will be sorted, collected and removed through state and local government cooperation.
Timing
Beginning from 2pm today, 26 March, the facility will be open and ready to accept flood waste transported by commercial operators only.
The facility will be open to accept public flood waste from tomorrow, Saturday 27 March, onward.
The hours of operation will be 8am- 6pm through the weekend of 27 and 28 of March. From 29 March, the hours of operation are still TBD. We will provide further information on the regular hours of operation as soon they are established.
The facility will temporarily remain open until all flood waste is received.
Location
The temporary facility will be located off Collombatti Road, north of Frederickton, as pictured.
This site was selected specifically because of it’s previous use as a waste depot and environmental mitigation measures have been put in place.
Guidelines
This facility is set up as a free service to handle flood waste specifically, which includes household items damaged by the floods. Unfortunately this facility will be unable to accept other forms of normal household waste or organic waste.
All organic waste should be placed in the green bin to go out with your regular service or be taken to waste management facilities.
The facility will have an office on site and members of the public will need to bring an official form of ID in order to make a drop.
Anyone wishing to dispose of normal household or organic waste must do so via normal bin collection or at one of our Waste Transfer Stations or the Waste Management Centre.
For help with the disposal of deceased animals, please contact the Agriculture and Animal Services hotline on 1800 814 647.
Thank you for your patience
Thank you to local residents for your continued patience as we operate this new temporary facility. We apologise for any inconveniences it may cause and ensure you that care will be taken to ensure minimal disruption to the site and surrounding area.
