With Christmas and New Year on the horizon, Kempsey Shire Council have announced the services on offer over the holiday season to allow residents to plan ahead. For more information, head to Christmas Hours

Extra Waste Services

Christmas time means more waste is produced so Council is being a good elf and running extra waste services over Christmas while asking residents to return the favour by focusing extra hard on sorting rubbish and only using the red bin as a last resort.

You can put all three bins out on your usual bin night between 20 and 27 December. Remember that food scraps should go in the green bin, while everything you can recycle should be in the yellow bin. For a full list of what goes where head to Waste

Tip Closures

The Waste Management Centre on Crescent Head Road will close from 12pm on 16 December and will close again for the full day on Christmas Day, 25 December.

The Waste Transfer Station at South West Rocks will close from 12pm 16 December. On 25 December, 26 December, 27 December, 28 December and 3 January, Council’s Waste Transfer Stations at South West Rocks, Bellbrook and Stuarts Point will close.

Customer Service

Council’s Customer Service Centre will close their doors on 16 December from 12pm for the afternoon, then will break again from 1pm on 24 December until they reopen on 4 January.

Kempsey Shire Libraries

On 16 December, the South West Rocks and Stuarts Point libraries will close from 11.30am. The Kempsey Library will also shut its doors from 12pm.

The Stuarts Point and South West Rocks libraries will then close from 1pm 24 December and reopen 4 January. The Kempsey Library will also close from 1pm 24 December but will reopen on 10 January due to renovations. When it reopens the front part of the building will be finished so visitors will be able to access the library from the main entrance once more.

Don’t forget you can access the electronic library resources like audiobooks and ebooks from your fingertips while the library is closed.
