Kempsey Shire Libraries have lots of activities to keep your little ones intrigued over the summer holidays.

The Summer Reading Club is on now until 31 January 2023, and children have the chance to get their hands on awesome prizes.

The best thing about the Summer Reading Club is that it’s a free program encouraging kids to read, play and try out new things during the school holidays.

Every child that registers receives a free sign-up pack with lots of prizes to be won and lots of fun to be had. Prizes include a Samsung Galaxy tablet, $50 Big W vouchers and more.

To register, children will need to sign up to Kempsey Shire Library (also free), and then join the Summer Reading Club there or download the Beanstack Tracker app.

Each book, comic, graphic novel and eBook that is read (or read aloud to them) is logged on their Reading Record - either on Beanstack, or on the paper form in the sign-up pack. Once they've read 10 items, they go in the running to win wonderful prizes. Members using Beanstack are automatically entered into the prize draw, while those filling in the paper form must hand it into your local library to be entered.

As part of the Summer Reading Club, there is a Storywalk set up along the path at Horseshoe Bay Reserve. Read Sarah Jane Lightfoot’s Down the Road, Little Bee, while walking around the headland finding creatures and objects hidden in the pictures.

Children can take the Storywalk unguided or guided when Sarah or Children’s Librarian Mel joins in on the Storywalk. To be part of a Storywalk, register at School holiday activities

Every Summer Reading Club entrant that reads 10 or more books will be invited to the Wrap Up Party at Kempsey Majestic Cinemas on Saturday 4 February 2023. All prizes will be drawn here.
