The community is being encouraged to do their bit to help keep the Macleay Valley looking beautiful by volunteering for Clean Up Australia Day on Sunday, 7 March.

Kempsey Shire Council support the event every year and are encouraging the community to register as either an individual or as part of a community group or school to remove rubbish from local parks, bushland, beaches and waterways.

Council’s Coordinator Waste Services, Gavin Hughes, said Council is proud to support and work with volunteers on the event.

“There are several locations registered across the Kempsey Shire this year where volunteers can join to collect waste and recyclables. The sites include Clybucca, Dondingalong, Stuarts Point and South West Rocks.

“If there’s an area not listed that you think is in need of a clean-up, go onto the website, register the location and become a site supervisor.

“Site supervisors are encouraged to contact Council if they would like assistance with the disposal of collected waste and recycling from the day.”

Volunteers are encouraged to join a clean-up or register a site by going to: www.cleanupaustraliaday.org.au

And if you want to keep the Macleay beautiful on any other day of the year, there are PicItUp kits available from Council’s Customer Service Centre which are a great resource.
