Registered beekeepers attended a drop-in information session hosted by Kempsey Shire Council on Friday 22 September at the Kempsey Anglican Church Hall.

The intention of the session was to give registered beekeepers access to financial and mental health information, as well as contact with representatives of local support services:

  • Department of Primary Industry (DPI)
  • Service NSW
  • NSW Health (Farm Gate Mental Health)
  • Rural Financial Counselling Service
  • Rural Assessment Authority
  • Salvation Army
  • Drought Angels
  • Rural Aid
  • Services Australia (Centrelink)
  • Training NSW

Kempsey Shire Council facilitated the event to bring beekeepers and services together in the same room, making it easier for attendees to access assistance and advice.

More than 50 beekeepers took advantage of the session, engaging with the relevant groups and services, and getting their questions answered.

Council will continue to engage with beekeepers and industry and advocate for beekeepers where needed.
