Commemorate Anzac Day in 2024

On Thursday 25 April, Kempsey Shire will gather once again for Anzac Day to commemorate the men and women who served our nation during war efforts. The 2024 gatherings will include traditional dawn services, marches and main services across the Macleay Valley.

Please find a list supplied by the Kempsey Macleay RSL Sub-Branch for the following services this year.

ANZAC DAY SERVICES AT KEMPSEY

5.20am: Ex-service personnel will assemble at the Memorial Hall and march to the East Kempsey Memorial.

5.30am: The Dawn Service will commence at East Kempsey, then return to the Memorial Hall for breakfast supplied by Kempsey Macleay RSL Club for Veterans, Service personnel and RSL Members.

10.15am: Marchers to assemble at Sydney Street, next to the service station.

10.30am: All marchers will proceed to the East Kempsey Memorial along Belgrave Street across the bridge to Rudder Street.

11am: The East Kempsey Service will commence and after the service return to the Kempsey Macleay RSL Club.

12.30: Lunch will be served in the function rooms at the Kempsey Macleay RSL Club. The lunch is free for veterans, service personnel, ex-service personnel, those in uniform and those wearing medals or RSL Badges RSL KEMPSEY MACLEAY SUB-BRANCH CONTACT 6563 1010.

ANZAC DAY SERVICES AT FREDERICKTON

9am: The Frederickton Service will commence at the Memorial. The March leaves at 8:50am from the Cemetery on Great North Road and proceeds on Great Northern Road to the Memorial. After the service the marchers march along Macleay Valley Way to the Frederickton Hotel.

ANZAC DAY SERVICES AT CRESCENT HEAD

9am: Marchers are to assemble at the Service Station and to march to the Memorial where the Crescent Head Service will commence.

ANZAC DAY SERVICES AT BELLBROOK

10.45am: The Bellbrook marches march from East Street along Main Street to the Memorial.

11am: The Service Starts.

ANZAC DAY SERVICES AT HAT HEAD

5.30am: The Dawn Service will commence at the Hat Head Bowling Club.

10am: The Hat Head Bowling Club Service will commence.

ANZAC DAY SERVICES AT WILLAWARRIN

5.30am: The Dawn Service will commence at the Willawarrin Memorial

9am: The Willawarrin Service will commence.

ANZAC DAY SERVICES AT GLADSTONE

10.45am: Marchers line up at Kinchela Street and Memorial Ave and march to the Memorial along Kinchela Street.

11am: The Gladstone Service will commence at the Memorial.

ANZAC DAY SERVICES AT SOUTH WEST ROCKS 

5:00am Dawn Service at the Sea Breeze Hotel, then marching up to the Cenotaph.

11:00am Service at the carpark Paragon Avenue, then marching up to the Cenotaph. 

ANZAC DAY SERVICES AT STUARTS POINT

Marchers will assemble at the Bowling Club at 10.30 am for the march to commence at 10.40 am to the Stuart's Point memorial. The Anzac Day service will then commence at 11.00 am. All are very welcome. Lunch and the usual Anzac Day activities will be available at the Bowling Club from 12pm.

Kempsey:

• Forth Street and Smith Street Intersection

• York Lane near RSL Club

• Rudder Street and Ferry Street Intersection

• Stuart Street and Belgrave Street Intersection

• Verge Lane near road leading to traffic lights near traffic bridge

• Lord Street near Anzac Park

• Belgrave Street and Sydney Street Intersection

• Belgrave Street and John Street Intersection

• Belgrave Street and Holman Street Intersection

Frederickton:

• Macleay Valley Way and Chapman Street Intersection

• Beginning of Yarrabandinni Road

• Great North Road and Macleay Valley Way Intersection

Stuarts Point:

• Ocean Avenue from Marine Parade to Stuarts Point Workers Club and intersecting streets – Sixth Avenue, Second Avenue, Marine Parade, Banksia Street, Fourth Avenue

South West Rocks:

• Paragon Avenue between Gregory Street and Memorial Avenue

• Prince of Wales Avenue

• Livingstone Street between Prince of Wales Avenue and Gregory Street

• Gregory Street between Paragon Avenue and Livingstone Street
