This year our valley gets two extra treats for those looking to shop by day and celebrate by night: Crazy Day and Sky Stories.
Shorter days. Colder nights. State of Origin on the box. The middle of the year brings us all sorts of goodies.
In 2023, you can add the return of the Crazy Day sale and the rescheduled Sky Stories event to your winter bucket list.
Sky Stories new date confirmed
Saturday 22 July is the new date for an unforgettable night of free entertainment when Sky Stories, takes over South West Rocks for one night only!
South West Rocks Figtree Descendants Aboriginal Corporation has partnered with Kempsey Shire Council and invites you to experience the wonder and discover the deep connection of local Aboriginal culture as they are told through the stars, sky and light shows.
Like our very own mini-Vivid, this immersive event will give you a unique and captivating connection to the local area and traditional history through illuminated sculptures, dance and entertainment, all brought to life with stunning lighting and graphics as well as videos narrated by local Elders. These videos will tell how from the mountains to the sea, Dunghutti and Thunggutti culture is all around us.
Be amazed by mesmerising displays such as a giant brolga, koala and rainbow serpent lit up in colours, stargaze the constellations through telescopes and much, much more!

Shop the Kempsey Crazy Day Sale
If the lockdown didn’t send you crazy, then this sale just might. Four years on, this discount day of delirium is back.
