A message from the Mayor: Trial Bay Triathlon Impresses
Published on 20 February 2023
I would like to share with you my experience at the Trial Bay Triathlon, a remarkable event that took place recently in South West Rocks.
The event was attended by many super fit athletes who competed in a variety of categories. On Saturday, the junior competitors, ranging from 5-year-olds to senior primary students, showcased their competitive racing skills in swimming, cycling, and running.
On Sunday, two adult events were held, sponsored by the Coastline Credit Union. I was impressed by the enthusiasm of the competitors, the tremendous support from parents and friends, and the exceptional organisational skills of the event facilitators.
The event would not have been possible without the generous sponsorship of Milo, Nestle, Coastline Credit Union and the many other sponsors. Additionally, a special thank you to Councillor Arthur Bain, who acted as the starter of the two Sunday events.
I was there for the Saturday junior events and was pleased to see the impressive results published in the local media and online. You can see them here
The event was a significant success and a prominent sporting event in the Kempsey Shire calendar. Thank you to the many volunteers, especially from the Hat Head Triathlon Club, who made this annual event possible.
Mustering enthusiasm
Moving on to other news. I am, like all of the Shire’s country music lovers, delighted that the Macleay Music Muster is fast approaching.
The event is set to take place at Kempsey Showground on Saturday 4 March and will feature a fantastic line up of talented performers. The event is alcohol-free and suitable for families.
The performers include our very own Amos Morris, along with country music stars Adam Harvey and Beccy Cole. The event will also showcase new support acts in Loren Ryan and Charlie Fittler, among many others.
Admission to the event is free; however, you must obtain a ticket. I urge you not to delay, as many tickets have already been claimed.
In conclusion, I hope you join me in congratulating the competitors, organisers and volunteers of the Trial Bay Triathlon for their exceptional efforts, and I look forward to seeing you at the Macleay Music Muster on Saturday 4 March.
