Love Australia Day? Put your name forward for the committee!

Each year the tireless efforts and outstanding contributions of Macleay Valley citizens and community groups are recognised at Kempsey Shire Council’s Australia Day Awards ceremony.

The awards ceremony is always well attended and appreciated, and a great deal of work goes into making the event a special moment for the award winners and their friends and families.

This work is coordinated by the Australia Day Awards Committee, which is made up of the Mayor, two Kempsey Shire Councillors, one Kempsey Shire staff member, and up to seven community representatives. 

The Australia Day Awards Committee undertakes the planning, conduct and review of Kempsey Shire’s annual Australia Day Awards event, or events. Additionally, this Committee serves a crucial role in determining the eligibility for awards, assessing the nominations, and determining the winners of each category.

A new committee needs to be elected with the new term of Council, meaning that Kempsey Shire Council is now seeking expressions of interest from members of the local community who wish to join the Australia Day Awards Committee.
