Summer is here, and it’s time to enjoy the stunning beaches of Kempsey Shire! From Thursday, 19 December, Surf Life Saving services will resume across our region, keeping you and your family safe as you enjoy the holiday season.

Patrol Times and Locations

  • Grassy Head & Horseshoe Bay: Patrolled 9 am - 5 pm, Monday to Sunday.
  • Crescent Head, Hat Head & South West Rocks Main Beach: Patrolled 9 am - 5 pm, Monday to Friday, with volunteer lifesavers on weekends.

Whether you’re surfing, swimming, or soaking up the sun, it’s important to stay safe and make the most of your time at the beach.

Beach Safety Tips

  • Always swim between the red and yellow flags: These areas are monitored for your safety.
  • Look for safety signs: Check for warnings about rips or hazardous conditions.
  • Supervise children closely: Stay within arm’s reach of kids in the water.
  • Don’t swim alone: Always bring a buddy and let someone know your plans.

Sun Smart Tips

☀️ Cover up: Wear a hat, sunglasses, and protective clothing.
☀️ Use sunscreen: Apply SPF30+ or higher and reapply every two hours.
☀️ Seek shade: Especially during peak UV times (10 am - 3 pm).
☀️ Stay hydrated: Bring plenty of water to keep cool and avoid dehydration.

Respect Our Beaches

Our beaches are busier than ever during the holidays. Be courteous to other beachgoers by keeping noise to a minimum, sharing space, and cleaning up after yourself. Together, we can all enjoy the summer safely and respectfully.
