Crescent Head’s bustling café scene is about to get an upgrade! From Wednesday, 27 November, to Sunday, 1 December, the timber decks outside Foodworks, The Green Room Café, and Blackfish Café will undergo much-needed re-oiling.

The works are being carried out by local contractor Coastal Timber Care, ensuring that these beloved spaces are ready to welcome the Christmas influx of tourists with a fresh, polished look.

The re-oiling process will begin each day after the café trade period, starting around 2 pm, to ensure minimal disruption to businesses and patrons. While the outdoor seating areas will be unavailable during the works, there will be no interruptions to café trading hours, so your coffee runs, and catch-ups can continue uninterrupted!

Council has selected a fast-drying, natural oil that will enhance the beauty of the timber while protecting it from the elements, extending the life of these well-used community spaces.

By using a product without added stains, the timber’s natural grain will shine through, complementing the charm of Crescent Head’s unique character.

As always, safety is key. We ask everyone to take care and be mindful of changed foot traffic conditions around these areas while the work is underway.

This project is a collaboration between Council, Coastal Timber Care, and the local business owners, demonstrating how our community can work together to deliver practical improvements that benefit everyone.

We look forward to seeing these refreshed decks in action—just in time for the busy summer season! Keep an eye out for their renewed glow as you sip your coffee and soak up the Crescent Head vibes.
