What is going on with Smithtown and Gladstone wharves?

There's an old joke about taking a long walk off a short pier and, well, it you tried to use one of the wharves we're upgrading at Smithtown and Gladstone, you might get a sinking feeling.

They are behind schedule. We said we were aiming to have them done in 6 weeks, and we were, but there's been some unavoidable delays with our suppliers and our contractors.

The short version is that the upgraded wharves are coming, but not as quick as we hoped.

The longer version is that the contractor responsible for the construction of the wharves has experienced significant delays with the delivery of the material for the remaining components of the wharf.

However, the material has arrived, the contractor is in the process of reestablishing onsite to finish the work, and we are hopeful that work will start back up within the next few weeks.

That doesn't help anyone who needs a wharf now, and we are truly sorry for that.

Please know we'll get them done as soon as we can. Thank you for your patience.
