Every community has its shining stars – those people who go above and beyond to make life a little better, a little brighter, for everyone around them. They’re the ones you see lending a hand, sharing a smile, giving back, and lifting others up, often with little fanfare and even less recognition.

They’re our neighbours, our friends, our local heroes, and they deserve to be celebrated!

Imagine how amazing it would feel to see that special person in your life honoured for all they’ve done. This is your chance to let their hard work, kindness, and dedication take centre stage by nominating them for the 2025 Australia Day Awards!

These awards are all about shining a light on the people and groups who make our community such a warm and welcoming place to live.

From dedicated volunteers to inspiring young leaders, and even whole groups who’ve rallied together to make a difference – there’s a category for every kind of contribution.

Nominate a hero in these categories:

  • Citizen of the Year: A special recognition for someone whose outstanding service or inspiration has left a lasting mark on the community.
  • Young Citizen of the Year: Honouring incredible young people (30 and under) who are making a positive difference in the lives of others.
  • Community Group of the Year: Celebrating teams that have joined forces to create meaningful change.
  • Volunteer of the Year: Shining a spotlight on the selfless givers who volunteer purely out of love for their community.
  • Local Hero: For those who inspire us all with their generosity, kindness, and community spirit.
  • Reconciliation Award: A new award recognising those making strides in building respect, unity, and trust across communities.

Nominations are open until Wednesday, 4 December – but don’t wait! This is your moment to honour the extraordinary people who make our community special.

Head to ksc.pub/ausday now to submit your nomination, and let’s make sure these remarkable individuals get the recognition they truly deserve!
