You might like a little scare on Halloween, but no one wants the fear of not knowing how to save someone in an emergency

This Halloween, we’re giving 'shock therapy' a whole new meaning. It’s time every organisation in Kempsey with an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) let people know, and for sports clubs to apply for one.

Like our AED armed Dr Frankenstein proves, in real life, you don’t need to be a mad scientist to turn electricity into life.

Whether you’re a business, a sports club, or a spooky house on the corner, registering your AED could be the life-saving jolt someone needs in an emergency. You can safely shock yourself this Halloween by finding out how easy it is to register your AED on the Heart of the Nation app.

When cardiac arrest strikes, knowing where the nearest AED is can make all the difference. Every year, more than 26,000 Australians suffer sudden cardiac arrests, but with quick action—like using an AED—survival rates can jump from a scary 5% to a thrilling 70%.

Don't let a cardiac arrest turn into a real-life fright fest. The Heart of the Nation app helps you locate the nearest AED fast, even when you’re too spooked to think straight.

So, this Halloween, register your AED and help keep the community alive and kicking—no witchcraft required.

Scary sporting clubs can also celebrate Halloween as the NSW Government is offering up to $3,000 through the Local Sport Defibrillator Grant Program to help clubs get their very own AEDs. The grant is open until 1pm on 27 November 2024 but hurry unless the funds vanish like ghosts in the night. Apply at ksc.pub/aedgrant

This Halloween let’s make saving lives electrifying! Download the Heart of the Nation app today, register your AED, and be the hero who brings someone back from the brink—no lightning bolts required!
