Each day, Kempsey Shire Council’s Water and Sewer team works behind the scenes to provide clean, safe drinking water to thousands of residents across the Macleay Valley. While their vital contributions often go unnoticed, this National Water Week, we take the opportunity to recognise and celebrate the dedication of these passionate professionals.

National Water Week is a time to reflect on the importance of water in our lives and to acknowledge the efforts of those who ensure we have access to this essential resource.

From treatment and construction to planning and management, our team works tirelessly to safeguard the water supply for our community.

This year’s National Water Week theme, "Accelerating Action," serves as a timely reminder of the urgent role water plays in the face of the global climate crisis. It is a rallying cry for all of us to come together and take meaningful steps towards a sustainable water future.

The call to action is clear: Now is the time to drive change, protect our water resources and ensure their longevity for future generations.

We invite the entire Macleay Valley community to join us in this collective effort. National Water Week is more than just a celebration it’s an opportunity for each of us to contribute to the long-term sustainability of our water supply.

Together, we can spark a movement that accelerates action and builds a resilient future, both locally and globally.

As we look beyond this week, Kempsey Shire Council remains committed to fostering community awareness about the challenges and opportunities surrounding water. By working together, we can create a well-prepared and informed community, ready to meet the water-related challenges of tomorrow.

This National Water Week let’s acknowledge the dedicated efforts of our water team and commit ourselves to building a sustainable future—one drop at a time.
