Before you head off on your next adventure with your caravan, it’s time to ask yourself—are you fully prepared to tow safely and within the law? Whether you’re a seasoned nomad or just starting out, Kempsey Shire Council is offering a free Caravan Safety Event to help you brush up on your towing skills and ensure you’re ready for the road.

Towing a caravan involves more than just hitching up and driving. To stay safe and legal, it’s essential to understand the importance of weights, mass, and dimensions. This event aims to increase awareness of the risks associated with towing and provide expert guidance to improve your understanding of safe towing practices.

Led by Getabout Training Services, this hands-on event will take you through everything you need to know—from how trailers move with your vehicle to handling them in different driving situations. After covering the theory, you'll dive into the practical side, including:

• Manoeuvering and Reversing

• Turning Safely

• Parking

• Coupling and Uncoupling

With these skills under your belt, you’ll be towing with confidence and ensuring the safety of yourself and other road users.
