Get ready for the swim season as the Shire’s pools reopen

As the weather heats up, Kempsey Shire Council is excited to announce that all four public pools across the Shire will be open from 1 October, providing the perfect spot for residents to cool down and enjoy the warmer months.
Over the winter closure, Kempsey and South West Rocks pools have undergone significant maintenance and upgrades. The Kempsey McElhone Swimming Complex's 50m outdoor pool has seen leaks repaired, a full structural assessment, as well as patching and a fresh coat of paint.
Both the 25m and 50m pools at the complex are looking fantastic and are ready to welcome swimmers for squad training, learn-to-swim classes, and lap swimming. Bookings for these programs are now open, offering a range of opportunities for locals to dive into fitness and fun.
South West Rocks pool has had a major makeover as well. New pumps have been installed, along with a state-of-the-art Pelican Pool Hoist, custom-made pool steps, grab rails, and new pool blankets. These upgrades significantly improve accessibility, allowing more people in the community to enjoy the facility safely and comfortably.
The Macleay Memorial Pool in Gladstone has had new steps installed, increasing accessibility access to the pool.
Crescent Aquatic Centre has already kicked off the swimming season, having re-opened in August, while the Macleay Memorial Pool in Gladstone will be ready for residents from 1 October.
With all four pools now open and enhanced, Kempsey Shire Council invites everyone to make the most of these fantastic facilities. Whether you're looking to swim for fitness or fun, there’s something for everyone across the Shire's public pools this season!
