New hours for the shire’s waste transfer stations

The Waste Transfer Stations at South West Rocks, Stuarts Point and Bellbrook have implemented small changes to their opening hours to improve the overall waste service.
Kempsey Shire Council is dedicated to providing a safe, secure and comfortable environment for our staff and customers. With our focus on financial sustainability, it is also important to provide an efficient and effective service. To ensure the best waste service, we carry out regular reviews of our work sites and practices.
A recent review at South West Rocks and Stuarts Point has resulted in a change in trading hours to allow staff sufficient time transport waste at the end of the day to the Waste Management Centre and unload Community Recycling Centre items collected.
The South West Rocks Waste Transfer Station will now close half an hour earlier on Tuesday and Thursday, but will open for an extra one and a half hours on Friday. The Stuarts Point Waste Transfer Station will close half an hour earlier on Wednesday.
This follows changes made at the Bellbrook Waste Transfer Station in July after Council took over direct management of the facility that had previously been operated by a contractor. Changes were made to bring the facility into line with our other facilities, as well as work health and safety policies.
This included changing hours of operation to allow for mandatory staff rest breaks under the industry award, as well as changing to a card-only payment system for the safety of our staff. Bellbrook transfer station is now open one hour earlier to accommodate the lunchtime closure.
The shire’s three Waste Transfer Stations are suitable for household waste only and are now trading under the following schedule.
South West Rocks Transfer Station
Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 8.00am to 12.00pm, 1.00pm 3.30pm.
Saturday 12.15pm to 3.15pm

Stuarts Point Transfer Station
Wednesday 8.00am to 12.00pm, 1.00pm to 3.30pm.
Saturday 8.00am to 11.00am
Closed Public Holidays
Bellbrook Transfer Station
Wednesday 9:00am to 3:00pm
Sunday 9:00am to 3:00pm
Closed from 12:00pm to 1:00pm for lunch
