Safer access to Grassy Head beach: a win for beachgoers
Published on 26 August 2024
Grassy Head Beach, a cherished recreational spot within our community, now boasts a safer and more reliable access path just in time for the sunny season ahead.
Kempsey Shire Council has completed a significant upgrade to the beach’s access path, addressing long-standing issues caused by adverse weather conditions.
Previously, the access path at Grassy Head Beach was prone to exposure, with sandbags becoming uncovered during inclement weather, creating hazardous conditions for beachgoers. The original path, which was too short, often became a tripping hazard and limited access for some patrons, particularly those with mobility challenges.
In response to these concerns, Council undertook a project to install a permanent, safer solution. Work crews extended the path and added a ramp designed to withstand whatever nature throws at it. This isn’t just a temporary fix; it’s a thoughtful solution that blends with the natural environment, ensuring that even after a storm, the beach remains accessible to everyone.
The completion of this project is a significant achievement for council, reflecting its commitment to the safety and accessibility of Grassy Head Beach, one of the community's favourite recreational areas. The timing of the project is particularly crucial, as beach usage significantly increases with the arrival of the warmer months.
As the summer months draw near, we invite you to come and see the difference. This is your beach, and we’ve worked hard to make sure it’s ready for you, whenever you’re ready to enjoy it. Let’s celebrate this positive change together and rediscover the beauty and safety of Grassy Head Beach.
Council is proud to have delivered this important improvement, ensuring that all members of the community can safely enjoy the beauty of Grassy Head Beach year-round.
