Kempsey pool is set to shine with a new coat of paint and some essential repairs and maintenance taking place in the off season.

In June, Kempsey Pool operators drained the 50m pool to patch and repaint the pool shell.

While the pool was empty, Council staff have been undertaking investigations and performing repairs to address significant leaks, as well as doing a detailed assessment of the pool’s structure.

The repair works have taken longer than expected, which has delayed the painting and patching works that were also scheduled to be done.

As a result, the 50m pool will not be ready to open on 1 August as hoped but is expected to be open in early October.

The 25m pool will still open at the beginning of the swim season on 1 August, which will allow squad training, lap swimming and learn to swim programs to go ahead as planned.

Council and the Kempsey Pool operators apologise for any inconvenience that the delay will cause and are looking forward to having Kempsey pool in its best possible condition for the upcoming swim season.
