Happy dogs at Animal Care Services Day

We’re furry proud of this fluff piece, howling about the success of the Animal Welfare League’s Animal Care Services Day.

Kempsey Shire Council, in partnership with the volunteer group Friends of Kempsey Pound, continues to make significant strides in animal welfare across our community.

Together, we have saved over 540 pets from euthanasia in the past year through rehoming initiatives and have helped hundreds more with vaccination and microchipping events. These efforts underscore Council’s commitment to making every dollar count for the betterment of our furry friends and their owners.

Animal Care Services Day: A community bark-chievement

On Wednesday 19 June, the Kempsey Showground purred with activity as the Animal Welfare League hosted its annual Healthy Animal Event.

The event, facilitated by Friends of Kempsey Pound and Council, saw 146 animals receive essential care, reflecting our ongoing dedication to animal welfare.

Highlights of the Day

  • Cats: 37 cats attended, with 36 receiving vaccinations.
  • Dogs: 109 dogs attended, with 93 receiving vaccinations.
  • Microchipping: 56 animals were microchipped, ensuring they can be safely returned if lost.
  • Health Checks and Advice: 17 pets benefited from expert advice and health checks.

The success of this event is a testament to the power of community collaboration. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the following groups:

  • Animal Welfare League: For organising this fabulous and much-needed event.
  • ARC Rescue: For their invaluable support in supplying Kempsey Pound and other animal welfare organizations with food, medication, and other essentials.
  • Friends of Kempsey Pound: For their continuous assistance in enhancing animal welfare throughout the community.

The Kempsey Showground was alive with the joyful sounds of local pups and kitties benefiting from the day's services. Events like these not only improve the health and safety of our pets but also foster a sense of community and care among residents.

Looking Ahead

As we celebrate the success of the Animal Care Services Day, we remain committed to working hard and responsibly for our community. By continuing to partner with dedicated organisations and volunteers, Kempsey Shire Council ensures that every effort is made to protect and care for our beloved animals.

Thank you to everyone who made this day a resounding success, and we look forward to many more positive outcomes in the future.
