Say G'day to inclusivity at Slim Dusty Centre
Published on 04 April 2024
The Slim Dusty Centre is now more accessible after a funding partnership between Council and Create NSW has provided a portable stage lift, portable screens, and six wheelchair accessible display cases.
Previously, the stage was only accessible via steps, making it impossible for wheelchair users, and challenging for older people to access the stage for presentations and other events.
Similarly, wheelchair accessible display cases, as shown in the image on this page, are not only visually accessible for people in wheelchairs, but are a functional way for everyone to view our museum displays.
Check out our awesome Slim Dusty Centre museum, with a great range of Slim Dusty memorabilia showing insights into the amazing adventures of Slim, Joy and their family and mates, touring the towns and villages of Australia’s outback.
You can get a close-up look at the famous car, ‘Old Purple’ and Slim and Joy’s last touring caravan and some of their personal possessions, including Slim’s iconic Akubra hat collection, are showcased alongside awe-inspiring costumes as well as their extensive range of Golden Guitar awards and iconic golden and platinum records.
