A blooming good time with Piper the Story Dog
Published on 08 October 2024
At Kempsey Shire Library, magic comes to life through story time sessions. Piper the Story Dog brought her wagging tail and heartwarming presence, spreading joy to the nine children and eight adults who gathered for an afternoon of spring-themed wonder!
The session was filled with smiles and giggles as the children dove into the charming tale of Worms are Our Friends by Toni D’Alia. It was a delightful journey where they learned how worms can turn our food scraps into treasure for growing flowers and food.
With their curiosity piqued and imaginations sparked, the kids eagerly took part in a creative craft inspired by The Boy with Flowers in His Hair by Jarvis.
Armed with markers and vibrant flowers, the kids created portraits of themselves—or even Piper herself! The crown jewel of the activity? Beautiful flower crowns made from an array of blossoms and foliage, turning their artwork into floral masterpieces.
Piper was thrilled with their creations and couldn’t resist sniffing the fragrant flowers, wagging her approval at their handiwork.
This special session, led by the wonderful Helen and, of course, Piper, was an unforgettable blend of nature, creativity, and stories that left everyone feeling a little more connected to the beauty around them.
A huge thanks to Piper for being the best story companion, and to all the little creators for sharing their artistic talents with us. We can’t wait to see what adventures await in the next story time session!
