Celebrating Local Government Week, our staff and their adopted pets!
Published on 01 August 2023
Local Government Week 2023 celebrates and showcases the range and diversity of services councils offer their community.
This Local Government Week which runs from Monday 31 July to Sunday 6 August, our team at Kempsey Shire Council is launching Macleay Valley Pawgust (MVP).
What is Macleay Valley Pawgust?
MVP is a joint community initiative between Kempsey Shire Council and Friends of Kempsey Pound during the month of August 2023 where are encouraging our community to take the lead on responsible pet ownership.
We are encouraging our local community to support the work of our council rangers and pound to re-home stray pets via pet adoption, as well as raise awareness about the impacts of pet neglect in our community.
Our Kempsey Shire Council team are delighted to share with you our own personal stories of pet adoption success during Local Government Week. Our intention is to inspire our community to get involved in this brilliant initiative and get to know some of our team.
During the month of August Kempsey Shire Council will be launching a range of MVP community initiatives designed to raise awareness and engagement around pet adoption. Read more about it ksc.pub/mvp
Thank you to our council staff

Let's take a moment this week to appreciate and thank Council staff for all their efforts. Together, with the help of our community, we can make Kempsey Shire an even better place for everyone.
