A sick Norfolk Island Pine will be removed in Landsborough Street South West Rocks as it is infected with a canker.

Kempsey Shire Council has continually monitored and maintained the health of the tree located on the road reserve in Landsborough Street but the contagious disease further deteriorated its health. The tree now presents a risk to public safety and the difficult decision to remove the pine has been made.

Council will remove the pine on Thursday 27 July.

There will be minor delays and traffic control will be in place when the removal takes place.

What is Norfolk Pine Canker?

Norfolk Pine Canker is a contagious disease that affects the pines from the top down resulting in declining health, scarce canopies, gummosis and can eventually cause death of the entire tree, posing a risk to public safety.
