The wheels are in motion to elevate local arts and sports to a higher level in the Macleay Valley with engagement now open for valuable feedback.

What creative activities will boost Kempsey’s art and culture offerings?

Celebrating and developing the Kempsey Shire as an even better creative community on the horizon as creating Our Creative Macleay begins developing.

Kempsey Shire Council invites residents to actively participate in its Arts and Culture Plan development by sharing their thoughts and experiences of arts and culture in the shire.

Feedback received will help shape the future of arts and culture in the Macleay, ensuring that our community thrives creatively and becomes a vibrant hub for artistic expression and cultural experiences.

Grandstand upgrades, extra seating and more for Verge 1

An exciting vision to turn Verge 1 Sporting Field into an elite regional sports complex has been developed in consultation with local sports clubs.

Kempsey Shire Council has the Verge 1 Sporting Field Master Plan on exhibition now.

The aim of this is to enhance local sports and community events, creating unforgettable experiences for all.

Some of the proposed improvements include:

• expanding grandstand facilities, including seating for 1,000 spectators and six change rooms for both male and female athletes

• upgrading the junior clubhouse and its facilities

• increasing car parking and boundary fencing

• adding a strength and conditioning room, and a media room

• establishing more grassed hills and levelled seating provide the perfect viewing spots.

While Verge 1 Sporting Field will continue to primarily serve rugby league, it will also have the capability to host soccer, rugby union, and community events on occasion.
