Vandals strike Riverside Park playground
Published on 08 August 2022
Vandals have struck the Kempsey Shire for a third time in two weeks, this time setting fire to Riverside Park's playground.
Kempsey Shire Council arrived at Riverside Park playground on Monday morning to find the timber perimeter seating smouldering and burnt.
Thanks to the swift and hard work of Council crews, the timber seating has been fixed and the playground is now safe to use.
This is the third act of vandalism to the shire's community facilities in less than two weeks and is very disappointing for residents who use these. Council works with the community year-round to make sure these are safe for residents.
In addition to Riverside Park playground, Smithtown sports ground's canteen and Frederickton sports field have been vandalised in the last fortnight.
