SES NSW Evacuation Warning

NSW SES Evacuation Warning for Stuarts Point Community

Issued at: 4pm Wednesday 30 March

NSW SES is advising residents in Stuarts Point to prepare for possible evacuation due to possible contaminated floodwater and rising groundwater levels.

Some septic systems in Stuarts Point may discharge into yards due to rises in the groundwater caused by the recent weather event.

NSW Heath has confirmed the septic discharge contains faecal matter and bacteria and is a public health risk to people who may come into contact with the water.

Residents in the following streets of Stuarts Point and surrounds need to prepare for possible evacuation, should the current situation deteriorate further:

• Ocean Avenue
• First Avenue
• Second Avenue
• Third Avenue
• Fifth Avenue
• Sixth Avenue
• Seventh Avenue
• Ninth Avenue
• Low lying areas at Fishermans Reach and Grassy Head

Residents should monitor the situation and be prepared to evacuate if you are instructed to do so.

An Evacuation Order will be issued by the NSW SES if evacuations are required.

Where to go if evacuation is required

Wherever possible, people should go and stay with family or friends, or make other accommodation arrangements.

If you are unable to stay with family or friends, an Evacuation Centre will be established at:

250 Grassy Head Road
